Smokefree
Smoking is no longer allowed in virtually all enclosed public places and workplaces, including work vehicles and on public transport. Smokefree laws came into effect on 01 July 2007.
The law has been introduced to protect employees and members of the public from the harmful effects of second hand smoke.
Who do I call if I see someone smoking?
If you believe someone is breaking the law by smoking in a smokefree premises, we suggest you let a member of staff at the premises know as soon as possible so the incident can be dealt with quickly. The person with management responsibility for the premises or vehicle is legally responsible for preventing smoking.
