Election Results Declared for the New Members of UK Youth Parliament 2011
Local student Alex Stevenson aged 13 from Woodcote who goes to Langtree School, was elected Member of the Southern Oxfordshire Youth Parliament at elections in Oxford on Friday 18 February.
Alex will work alongside Alex Lushington aged 14 from Abingdon who attends Larkmead School, who won the position of Deputy Member, and the Ambassador, David Hunt aged 16 also from Abingdon who goes to Fitzharrys School.
The young men had strong campaigns winning them the votes, with Alex Stevenson wanting to improve the image of young people, Alex Lushington pushing for safer cycle routes and David Hunt campaigning to get the vote at 16.
During their one-year term the boys will represent the views of young people aged 11-18 in Southern Oxfordshire. They will attend national and regional UK Youth Parliament meetings, county council meetings and district council events, getting their voices heard at the top.
The new members will remain in office for a one year term. They will link in with council events and activities for young people, represent the views of young people 11 - 18 years, work on issues in their manifestos, attend national and regional UKYP meetings, represent the views of young people at county council meetings, attend district council events and take part in debates and projects.
Elections take place every year, so if you ................
