Planning committees

Most applications (90%) are dealt with without going to a planning committee.  An application may go to the committee on either a ‘minor’ or ‘major’ category of application.  All ’other’ category applications are delegated.  A councillor can request most applications to the planning committee and are encouraged to explain why with planning reasons.

A planning committee meeting is held every 4 weeks.

Public speaking

The council encourages public speaking at planning committee meetings.  However, you must have commented in writing on the application during the consultation period and register to speak by midday the day before the meeting.
